Lessons From Butterflies

Butterflies are amazing invertebrates!

Most live only a few weeks, but some . . .
like the Monarch Butterflies can live up to 6 months.

Common Buckeye

Butterflies live pretty care free lives.
They drink nectar and flutter from here to there.

They have two antenna with knobs on the end.
They have four wings which they use to fly.

They are fun to chase with a camera.
Children also delight in a good butterfly chase.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail

They have six graceful legs.
They start their lives as caterpillars.

They can be different sizes and different colors.
They can be still or quite often jumpy.

They have an amazing tongue called a proboscis.
They taste with their feet.

They are unpredictable and typically beautiful.
Yes, butterflies are quite amazing!
